# Video Generator

The Video Generator makes a short video clip from your prompt. You can guide it with up to five reference images and one motion-reference clip.

> **Note:** Video generation is in a closed beta, enabled account by account. If you're not in the beta, you don't see `@video`.

## Generate a video

1. In the composer, type `@` and pick `@video` under **Capabilities**. It becomes an `@video` chip.
2. After the chip, describe the clip and send it:

> A 10 second slow orbit around a glossy red sports car in a dark studio, soft rim light.

A video takes minutes. The agent starts it, checks on it until it's done and then gives you the path to the MP4 file.

The agent can't watch the video, so check the result yourself.

Typing the letters `@video` without picking them from the menu doesn't turn it on. Each message that should start or check on a video needs its own `@video` chip.

## Length

Say how long the clip should be. Without a length, a clip is 5 seconds.

| Video model | Length |
| --- | --- |
| `bytedance/seedance-2.5` (default) | 4 to 30 seconds |
| `bytedance/seedance-2.0`, `-2.0-fast`, `-2.0-mini` | 4 to 15 seconds |

You can't set the aspect ratio or resolution, and clips have no audio.

## Add reference images

Reference images show the video's subjects, characters and style. They aren't first or last frames: the model decides where each one appears.

With `@video` in the prompt, the composer shows **Video inputs** above the text.

1. Under **Reference images**, click **Add reference image**.
2. Click **Upload**, drop a file in, or pick an image attached to the message or already in the chat.

You can also type `@` and pick **Add reference image…** from the menu.

- Up to 5 images, each PNG, JPEG or WebP
- Up to 12 MB each and 30 MB in total

## Name and mention reference images

Each reference image gets a name from its file name. For example, `Hero Shot (final).png` becomes `@hero-shot-final`.

To rename one, click its name under **Reference images**. A name can have up to 32 lowercase letters, numbers, `-` or `_`. You can't use `image` or `video`.

To point at an image in your prompt, type `@` and pick it under **Reference images**. Images you already mentioned show **In prompt**. For example: *@video Make @hero walk into @kitchen and wave.*

If you remove an image the prompt still mentions, its chip turns red. Pick another image or delete the mention before you send.

## Add a motion reference

Under **Motion reference**, add one video clip whose movement you want the result to follow. Use an MP4 up to 50 MB.

## Choose the video model

1. Open **Plugins** and click the **Video Generator** card.
2. Pick a model under **Video model**.

The choice is saved on your computer and applies from your next message.

## If the app closes mid-generation

The video keeps generating on the server. Open the same chat, add an `@video` chip and ask the agent to check on the video. A finished video can be downloaded for 24 hours.

## Where videos are saved

Each video is saved as an MP4 in the chat's workspace, inside the 3D-Agent app data folder. The chat doesn't play videos, so open the file from the path the agent gives you.

## Limits

- It works in chats started after you joined the beta.
- You can start one video per minute.
- Blender must be connected, like for any other message.
- Generating doesn't use an extra prompt right now. The message that asks for it counts as a normal prompt. Checking on a video in a later message counts as another prompt.

Your prompt, reference images and motion clip are sent to a media generation provider. See [Privacy and data](https://3d-agent.com/docs/privacy).
