Plugins
Plugins
Plugins give the agent new abilities, like searching free asset libraries or running long renders. This page covers installing them, choosing where they’re on and fixing one that isn’t ready.
All plugins
Every plugin ships with the app and updates with it. Each one has its own page.
| Plugin | What it does | Needs |
|---|---|---|
| Poly Haven | Adds free HDRIs, textures and models to the open scene | Internet |
| BlenderKit | Adds free models, materials and HDRIs from BlenderKit | Blender 4.2 or later |
| ambientCG | Builds PBR materials from the ambientCG library | Internet |
| Render Queue | Renders stills and frame ranges and follows their progress | Nothing |
| Roblox | Checks, repairs and uploads models to Roblox | A connected Roblox account |
| Roblox Studio (Developer) | Works inside the place you have open in Roblox Studio | Roblox Studio on macOS or Windows |
| Image Generator | Generates or edits an image when you type @image | Media generation beta |
| Video Generator | Generates a video when you type @video | Media generation beta |
Install a plugin
- Click Plugins in the sidebar.
- Find the plugin with Search plugins…, or switch between All and Installed.
- Click Install. The button turns into an on/off switch.
Plugins aren’t installed until you click Install. Click a card to see its tools and requirements before you install it.
If an install fails, the page shows That didn’t go through. Your other plugins keep working. For BlenderKit, check that Blender 4.2 or later is installed in its usual folder, then try again.
Uninstall a plugin
- Click the plugin’s card.
- Open the ⋯ menu and click Uninstall.
- Confirm with Uninstall, or click Keep.
Turn plugins on or off
An installed plugin is on by default. You can change that at three levels:
- Everywhere: the switch on the plugin’s card on the Plugins page.
- In a project: the Plugins card on the project page sets the default for new chats in that project.
- In one chat: the Plugins button in the composer opens Plugins in this chat.
A chat’s choice wins over its project’s, and a project’s wins over the Plugins page. In a new chat, your choice is saved when you send the first message.
These choices stay on your computer. They don’t follow your account to another machine.
Each plugin that’s on gives the agent more tools to consider. Turn off the ones a project doesn’t need. For example, a rigging project doesn’t need asset libraries.
Plugin status
Each plugin shows Ready, Needs setup or Unavailable. The agent only uses plugins that are ready when you send a message.
When a plugin isn’t ready, its card shows the next step:
- Set up opens a guide, like the one for Roblox Studio.
- Connect signs in to an account, like the one for Roblox.
- Details explains the problem.
For BlenderKit, you may see one of these reasons:
| Reason | What to do |
|---|---|
| Blender is not running | Open Blender. |
| Blender 4.2 or newer is not installed | Install Blender 4.2 or later. |
| The 3D-Agent Blender extension is not enabled | See Blender won’t connect. |
| Restart Blender to load the updated 3D-Agent extension | Quit and reopen Blender. |
Plugin updates
Plugins update when you update 3D-Agent. Your Roblox connection and your on/off choices stay as they were.
If 3D-Agent can’t reach the online plugin catalog, the Plugins page says Couldn’t reach the plugin catalog. The plugins that ship with the app are still listed, and you can still install them.
Use your own Blender add-ons
The agent can use add-ons you already have installed in Blender. You don’t need a plugin for them. Name the add-on in your prompt:
Use the Quad Remesher add-on to retopologize the selected mesh.
