Getting started
Permissions
3D-Agent needs a few system permissions to talk to Blender, open your files and update itself. It never asks for Full Disk Access, and it only uses these while it’s running.
Settings → Permissions shows each one as Working, Not working, Checking… or Can’t check.
macOS
| Permission | Used for | Without it |
|---|---|---|
| Local Network | Talking to Blender and to its own agent on your Mac | Chat and Blender stop working |
| Files & Folders | Opening and saving .blend files, textures and references in Desktop, Documents and Downloads | 3D-Agent can’t read or save files there |
| App Management | Installing updates | You install every update by hand |
To turn one on:
- In Settings → Permissions, click Turn On or Open Settings.
- In System Settings, switch on 3D-Agent. For Files & Folders, switch on the folders that hold your projects.
- Back in 3D-Agent, click Re-check.
If System Settings doesn’t open, find 3D-Agent under Privacy & Security yourself.
Windows
3D-Agent needs Network / Firewall access to get its local services through Windows Defender Firewall. Without it, chat and Blender stop working.
- In Settings → Permissions, click Turn On. Windows Security opens.
- Allow 3D-Agent on private networks.
- Back in 3D-Agent, click Re-check.
