Quick answers to common questions about 3D-Agent (3d-agent.com ). Each one links to the page with the details.
What is 3D-Agent?
An AI agent for Blender. It’s a desktop app for macOS and Windows that builds 3D models, renders and animations in your open Blender scene from plain-language prompts. See Introduction.
How does 3D-Agent work?
The app installs an extension in Blender and connects to your scene. You describe what you want, and 3D-Agent works in steps: it inspects the scene, builds, takes screenshots, checks the result and fixes what’s off. You get editable Blender objects, and a checkpoint after each turn that changes the scene. See How 3D-Agent works.
Is 3D-Agent the same as other Blender AI tools with similar names?
No. 3D-Agent is the app from 3d-agent.com , and these docs cover only it. Other Blender AI tools and add-ons with similar names are separate products.
Is 3D-Agent free?
No, and there’s no free trial. Plans start at $19/month for 100 prompts. See Plans and limits. Students and content creators can ask for prompts.
Is it a one-shot text-to-3D generator?
No. 3D-Agent works in your Blender scene step by step, like an artist you brief. You get editable Blender objects with clean topology and refine them with follow-ups. See What 3D-Agent can and can’t do.
Which AI model does it use? Can I use my own API key?
It runs its own multi-agent system on leading AI models and updates them over time. You can’t pick the model, bring your own API key or use a local model.
How is it different from Blender MCP?
Blender MCP lets a general chat assistant send commands to Blender. 3D-Agent is an agent built for Blender, with checkpoints, plugins and step limits designed for 3D work. You can still call it from other assistants. See External agents.
How long does a prompt take?
Usually a few minutes. Large prompts with a high step limit can take longer.
Which Blender versions does it support?
Blender 4.2 or later. Earlier versions don’t support the extension format 3D-Agent uses.
Do I need to install a Blender add-on?
No. 3D-Agent is a standalone app that installs its own Blender extension, agent_3d, for you.
Does it work on Mac and Windows?
Yes: macOS 12 (Monterey) or later on Apple Silicon or Intel, and Windows 10 or later. There’s no Linux version. See Install and requirements.
Where is my model? How do I save it?
It’s in your open Blender scene. Save it with File → Save, or export it with File → Export. See Exporting.
Can it edit a model I already have?
Yes. Open it in Blender and describe the change. It can also clean up models made by other AI tools.
Is there an official “Blender AI”?
No. The Blender Foundation doesn’t make an AI product. 3D-Agent is an independent AI agent built for Blender.
What counts as a prompt?
One message you send, including every step the agent runs for it, up to your plan’s step limit. Answering a question from the agent is free. See Plans and limits.
Do unused prompts carry over?
No. Your count resets each billing period.
Can I buy extra prompts?
No, there are no top-ups. Upgrade your plan, or open a ticket to ask about a custom plan for large volumes. There are no discount codes.
Can I get a refund?
Usually not. Payments are final, except for billing mistakes and your legal rights where you live. You can cancel any time and keep access until the end of the period. See Billing.
Can I use what I make commercially?
Yes. Every plan includes a commercial license.
Where do I get help?
Open a ticket in the 3D-Agent Discord . See Get help.
